22 Nov 2024

Study Aims to Assess Level of Interdisciplinary Research

On November 21, the inaugural Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025, in partnership with Schmidt Science Fellows, were released. The prestigious list features 749 universities from 92 countries, including 38 institutions from Russia. Samara Polytech ranked in the 501–600 range overall and secured the 13th to 19th position nationally.

The ranking methodology evaluated universities across three key areas:

- Funding

- Infrastructure and administrative support

- Results, including publications, research quality, and reputation

Samara Polytech places strong emphasis on interdisciplinary work. Large-scale scientific projects—whether funded by grants, government contracts, or collaborations with industry—frequently involve teams from various disciplines. The university also integrates an interdisciplinary approach into student education. Through the "Project-Based Educational Tracks" program, students from different faculties collaborate to develop innovative ideas and bring them to practical implementation.

The analysis was conducted by Times Higher Education, a leading UK-based education ranking agency, in partnership with the Schmidt Science Fellows foundation.
