12 students from African countries studied at our university
From July 29 to August 7, the university hosted summer school classes “Tools and Means of Automation of Technical Systems” .The event was supported by the consortium of the Russian-African Network University. Thus, this year Samara Polytech became one of the winners of the competition to finance the training of students from African countries. Teachers from our university helped foreign students master an additional general education program in automation.
The training course included two directions - educational and cultural-historical. Over the course of 10 days, students from Togo, Lebanon, Cameroon, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Guinea, Gambia and Chad received interactive training on controller programming, studied SCADA systems and completed educational projects based on the knowledge gained. Teachers from the Department of Automation and Control in Technical Systems worked with the students.
“It’s interesting to work with students studying in other areas of training, as well as with other cultural values,” said Associate Professor of the Department Ivan Danilushkin. – On the one hand, it is more difficult to get feedback “in the moment” when you are telling new material, but on the other hand, you clearly see how the problem captured the students, and they moved on to a joint solution, communicating in their native language.
“The summer school, in essence, is an intensive course in the development of industrial automation systems,” noted the head of the department, Sergei Kolpashchikov. – After it was held, we had ideas about organizing similar intensive courses or special programs for our students.
In their free time from studying, foreigners managed to get acquainted with the cultural environment of Samara. The guys went on a sightseeing tour, learned many interesting stories about our city, visited several museums (including the Geological and Mineralogical Museum of Samara Polytech), and went to Garibaldi Castle. An educational program for guests was prepared by employees of the International Cooperation Department. According to the head of the department of internationalization of educational and scientific activities, Alexandra Zhelandinova, the excursions left vivid impressions on the students; they really liked Samara and our university.
Africans noted the high level of the summer school at Samara Polytech.
“We are very grateful to the university teachers, because they made every effort to convey every bit of information to us very clearly,” emphasized Sherif Jeng, a student at the Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics.
