Polytech Professor Actively Collaborates with Chinese Colleagues
On May 13, the results of the professional selection for the 2024 Shaanxi Province Science and Technology Awards were announced. The international category, known as the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of Shaanxi Province, is presented annually to no more than two foreign specialists who have made significant contributions to advancing cooperation between universities and enterprises in Shaanxi Province. This year, one of the laureates was Vladislav Blatov, Head of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry at Samara Polytech.
“I have been collaborating with Chinese research groups since 2012,” Blatov said. “During this time, together with colleagues from 12 universities across China, we have published 30 scientific articles and organized four schools for young scientists. My closest collaboration has been with Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province, where I have been a visiting professor since 2017. It was this university that nominated me for the international award. This prize will undoubtedly further strengthen Russian-Chinese scientific cooperation, including between our universities.”
In March this year, Samara Polytech and Northwestern Polytechnical University signed a cooperation and academic exchange agreement.
“I will supervise students, graduate students, and postdocs at the university, participate in joint research projects and conferences, publish results in high-ranking journals, and contribute to the development of theoretical materials science there,” Blatov explained. “I hope the best Chinese students and young scientists will join our research here in Samara, and our students will have opportunities to intern in China.”
