Dmitry Evgenevich Bykov – Doctor of Engineering Science, Professor, Honorary Figure of Russian Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
From December 2009 until now he works as a rector of SSTU.
1966–1988
Childhood and youth

Dmitry Evgenevich Bykov was born on August 4th, 1966 in Kuibyshev.

In 1983 he entered Chemical Technological Faculty of Kuibyshev Polytechnic Institute named after V.V. Kuibyshev of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, after he completed his education at middle polytechnic school №22. And in 1988 he graduated with distinction from the institute. He obtained the qualification of a chemical engineer-technologist, and the institute sent him to work as an engineer in the department «Technologies of the Basic and Petrochemical Synthesis».

1988–1991
Studying and defense of the thesis at MSU

In 1990 he graduated from the special center on chemistry of low temperatures. And in 1991 he defended PhD thesis in the specialty «Chemical kinetics and catalysis» at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

1991–2001
First years of work

Until 1993 he worked as a senior research scientist in the above mentioned department. After that he went to work as the head of the reference hydrochemical laboratory in the Research and production Company «Ecos». And in September 1993 according to the results of the contest he got the position of the associate professor of the department «Water Supply and Drainage» of Samara State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, at the same time being the head of the reference hydrochemical laboratory.

2001–2006
Head of the department «Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology» in SSTU

In 2001 he was invited on the position of the head of the department «Chemical Engineering and Industrial Ecology» of Samara State Technical University. Moreover, this year Scientific and Research Center of Industrial Ecology of SSTU was created under his direction, and in 2008 – Independent Certification and Methodological Center «Ecotechsafety».

2004
Defense of the second thesis in the specialty «Ecology»

In 2004 he defended doctoral thesis in the specialty «Ecology» at Moscow State University of Civil Engineering. And in 2005 he was awarded with title of professor.

2006–2009
Dean of Oil Technology Faculty

In 2006 Dmitry Bykov was chosen as dean of Oil Technology Faculty, which he was holding until 2009.

2009
Rector of SSTU

From December 2009 till now he works as a rector of SSTU.

Overall experience of academic work is more than 25 years. He has more than 190 scientific and educational works. He is qualified in the sphere of chemical technology and industrial ecology. More than 15 years he is the certified ecoauditor and member of the Russian ecoaudit chamber.

2 Doctoraltheses and 7 PhD theses were defended under Dmitry Bykov’s guidance. During the period of 2006-2007 he was the member of the working group on improving the Russian Federation laws in the field of waste management under the committee of science, education, health care and ecology of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. In 2006 he spoke at the Parliamentary hearings in the Federation Council on waste management issues. Since 2008 he has been the head of a group of specialists, who represent SSTU in the Technical Committee «Waste Management» of Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology. Dmitry Bykov is the member of the Public Council under Central Internal Affairs Directorate in Samara region, magazine editor of «Technopolis of the Volga region» and «Oil. Gas. Novations».
